The Thicker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice Series
The Thicker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice by Kendra Rainey
My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars
Until she meets Caine, a thug from Georgia who literally knocks the socks right off her feet. They hit it off instantly, not knowing he was about to Inflict the worst pain on her.
Caine seemed like the perfect guy at first with just a little street and thugness.
Until he shakes up Cherish’s world, shows his true colors and motives, which sends Cherish up a valley of “no self-esteem and desperation.”
The author did a great job of showcasing teen naivete showcased and the importance of education and self-love. However, the story was unnecessarily wordy with incorrect word usage or placement often used to provide unrealistic dialogue in certain situations. If you are not comfortable using certain words it's okay to keep it simple to avoid these issues.
Unfortunately, if you don't connect with the characters, the slow pace and lack of action will make the read seem like it will never end. I think this story will help someone who may see some of themselves in the characters and if it does that's a plus. The HEA was a bit overdone, but overall an okay read.
