The Bloodstained Bride: A gripping mystery with suspense and romance
The Bloodstained Bride: A gripping mystery with suspense and romance by Rachel Woods
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A bride, Besi, is murdered just as I do's are about to be spoken. The groom, being suspect number 1. To clear his name and find the killer of his now deceased bride to be, the groom contacts an old friend
& journalist, Leo and his wife Vivian. With these two on the case, we discover that all is not what it seems. Stolen identities, questionable parentage, million dollar inheritances, gambling and much more come into play as the story progresses.
The story was well developed as were the characters. It was also structurally sound. All that being said, I think the story could have made a bigger impact if it were a bit less wordy. Example, the initial setup was so detailed that the story dragged in the beginning. Granted some of the information tied into the end of the story, but all of it was not necessary to give the reader a clear picture. I believe this was part of the reason, it took me so long to connect with it.
This was a good mystery, but not necessarily suspenseful or romantic. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a cozy mystery.
